Who are the Fūma Ninja (Shoshu Rappa)?

The Rappa—legendary ninja of Shoshu（Sagami）.
Based in Odawara and Hakone, their leaders bore the inherited name Fūma Kotarō across generations.
They excelled in specialized horseback tactics, covert operations, and the disruption of enemy lines.

Recognized for their exceptional abilities, they served exclusively the Odawara Hōjō clan for five generations, beginning with their recognition by the clan’s founder, Hōjō Sōun.

Though recorded in historical texts such as the Kōyō Gunkan, Hōjō Godaiki, and Kanhasshū Kosenroku, much of their true history remains shrouded in mystery.
